Design Leadership

iZotope × Native Instruments

Beyond RX and the AI Ecosystem, I sat on the leadership team representing design alongside directors from product, engineering, marketing, and finance, running quarterly planning and roadmap across the portfolio while staying hands-on with my own team of designers spread across time zones.

Overview

A growing design team, twenty-plus products, and our first business built outside the boxed-software model.

Over this stretch I moved from senior design manager to associate director of product design, sitting on the leadership team to run quarterly planning and roadmap across the portfolio. Day to day I stayed hands-on: leading design reviews, mentoring a team of designers across time zones, and rebuilding our design system from the ground up. Along the way we shipped more than twenty pieces of software, and stood up our first subscription product, growing it from zero to 60,000 subscribers in its first year.

Approach

Reactive work keeps the lights on. Blue ocean work builds what's next.

Most of the team's time went to keeping more than twenty products healthy, but the initiatives without a playbook were where I spent my own attention, the SaaS launch chief among them, defining a market before we could design for it. I treated mentoring the same way: less about reviewing pixels, more about teaching the team how to make that kind of call themselves.
